Here's my view on the album after four or five listens:
Cold - really love this one. The album version is even more powerful than the live version we've heard. One of the best songs on the album. 8/10
Hallelujah - I like it, and I'm sure that live it will become one of the fan favourites. Still it's nowhere close to my favourite Editors songs. 7/10
Violence - this one is really disappointing after the acoustic version. The songwriting is great, and I love both lyrics and vocals, but the rest simply doesn't seem to work according to me... 5/10
Darkness at the door - This might have been a guilty pleasure song of teenage me in the 90s, but in 2018, sorry, no, doesn't do the trick for me. 5/10
Nothingess - well, it's definitely not the kind of song I'd mention as one of my editors favourites, but I do clearly prefer it above Violence & Darkness at the Door. 6.5/10
Magazine - for me this is the best song of the album. Love it live, and love the album version even more. Great song, great single. Not one of my Editor's favourites all time, but still it's great. 8.5/10
No Sound But The Wind - Oh boy..... The werchter version is great, but that's mainly because of what happened there live... This album version just doesn't do the trick for me... Preferred the version from the "You are Fading" collection a lot more.... 4/10
Counting Spooks - I'm not fully convinced yet, but it keeps growing on every listen. For now I'd say 7/10
Belong - I love this one, great closing song of the album. Really shows how great Editors can be if they don't focus on the "stadium" rock or on how good the song would score on the radio if it were a single. Together with Cold & Magazine, in my list of fav's on this album. 8/10
Overall: 59/90 = 6.5/10. That would make it my second least favourite Editors album, after The Weight of Your Love

Absolutely gutted that No Sound But The Wind isn't the full band version or similar. Just seems like a lazy way of pumping out a track because they needed a slow burner in there somewhere.
Think I'll sub in the full band version on my 'ipod' and listen to the proper one from time to time.

It becomes easier to listen to this album....except Darkness at you door! With easier you mean easier not to dance through your room almost breaking things?  exactly!and singing alone!

The second half reminds me a lot of you don't know love, a big seedy disco environment type sound.
I think/hope there will be some interesting remixes come out with some of these tracks.

I expected it though, with In Dream it also took like a week... and when I try the download link on the official store it goes 'nah fuck you' and it just gives me a zip file with Hallelujah only  thanks for nothing! Looks like I'll be listening ~illegally~ for the next couple of days

My thoughts on the album, but they will probably change (I was rereading my initial thoughts of In Dream yesterday and I called my least favourites of that album my favourites in that post)
Cold
Really like this studio version. It's better than the live version from last summer. I don't mind the hey heys because they're kinda buried in the mix, if they had been as loud as in the live versions it'd be weird as fuck. 7.5/10
Hallelujah
Great song, but I find myself skipping this because I just want to listen to the rest. One of my least favourites, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. 6.5/10
Violence
I don't know. Hearing the acoustic version before the studio version isn't good for me, I always end up being confused. The same happened with Forgiveness and All The Kings. I think this song sounds a bit too clean if that makes sense. The Back Room has never been so far away, but that's a good thing, I like #change. I don't know if I like this song though. Why isn't the guitar a bit louder? 5/10
Darkness at the Door
Holy shit. What the fuck just happened? Did Editors just release a happy song?? An excellent, catchy pop tune. I really hope I won't overplay it and get tired of it, totally love it at the moment. Elliott's vocals come to the foreground and it works very well. I think I said this before when we first heard it in that Instagram Story video, but the outro totally sounds like Prospekt's March era Coldplay. I was hoping that IG Story would make it to the album, but it might be a little too long. Great song, from a side of Editors we hadn't seen yet. 8/10
Nothingness
One of the best songs on the album. Great vocals (that raspy sound, yes!!), great melody, and a guitar solo, hell yes! I love when it goes tenderness, tenderness, tenderness until it almost sounds ridiculous but my favourite part is the guitar solo. 8.5/10
Magazine
A tune. I've listened to this so much I forgot what I thought when I first heard it, but I'm so glad this song made its way off the shelf, onto an album, where it belongs. My favourite lead single since Papillon. 8/10
No Sound But The Wind
Yep, best version of the song. Hauntingly beautiful. Nothing more to add. 7.5/10
Counting Spooks
Hmmmm. After 4 or 5 listens it still doesn't do much for me, but it gets more interesting with every listen. It's weird how the first part is so different from the second (which is funky as fuck) I don't really have an opinion on this one at the moment, 6/10 for now.
Belong
The beginning of this song is like a soft, warm blanket, and then it gets epic without getting too epic. The spoken 'welcome home' is a nice touch. Feels like a grower, 7/10 for now

The Pulse
Where is the guitar? The guitar was the bets part of the song goddammit. The rest of the studio version doesn't disappoint, but argh I miss that guitar so much. Whyyyy 6.5/10
When We Were Angels
This song is cool as fuck, I love it. Not too sure about the "when we were angels, we had wings on our backs" line though ...I mean yeah, that's the most obvious characteristic of an angel isn't it? Anyway, too good for a bonus track. 7.5/10

Still listening to it on shuffle, as I have to skip Hallelujah and Magazine a bit, as they're too familiar - but no bad song on the album, even Darkness has grown on me (listened to it on a sunny day today, while walking downtown). By far the best sounding album of theirs, the song quality on the other hand is more top 3.
