The exact opposite of how I feel about Cold and Darkness, but not others. Yeah, I do admit that the "dark choir(?)" in Cold takes away a bit of clarity, and that the guitar riff could have sounded a bit fresher.

Yeah, I do admit that the "dark choir(?)" in Cold takes away a bit of clarity, and that the guitar riff could have sounded a bit fresher. For me, the chorus is the biggest let down - it sounded so expansive on the live recordings, whereas the album version lacks the punch. It's like you wait, wait...and then it doesn't go into that final gear.

ok, ok, anyone found alt version of the pulse ? im looking for everywhere, still nothing I really hope that one has the live guitar in it! The version on the deluxe cd is really missing something, it sounds a bit empty.

I don't get the hate about the production of this album. I think this album is the best produced album out of all 6, and maybe even my favourite Editors album song-wise too. The productions sound very thick and full, bass and drums provide a very firm basis. Sonically there are a lot of different effects in the background that may surprise you. I also don't get why people are complaining about the guitars not being loud enough in the mix, this was a deliberate (and in my opinion the right) choice. They blend in really nice with the electronics. The vocals are also really well recorded, they sound very clean and full. There is a lot of things going on but they are all mixed properly. Well opinions differ ... yeah a lot of electronics going on in the background,to distract people from the fact that some of the songs lack quality . I agree with Richard : a real song doesn't need all those tricks , stripped back to the essence it grabs you . And don't get me wrong Editors have those songs . But not a lot of them on this album.

Sorry, but only 2 or 3 songs (from the whole deluxe package, so 11) wouldn't work that well acoustically, all others would.

The album has it's gems, but overall it's probably the worst for me. Well, back to waiting for Interpol's new album I guess... And you will know how it sounds...no progress or variations.

I never really got people that go against this. I think Interpol had quite some progress from their first record. But no, they never really changed their style or genre too much. But is that really so wrong? They have 5 albums, and I don't think any song sounds as if it were repeated, cloned, or made without inspiration. I like their 5 records, if they keep the same style, then it's a really big chance I'll like the 6th. Every single time a band starts flip flopping around in style, fans will defend it as creativity. But when they keep putting out quality music in the same style that defined them, with a steady progress and just minimal style changes that don't offset everything, there's no praise. I won't lie, I wish Editors wouldn't have flip flopped so much on this record, because it's quite messy for me. Should've went rock, eletronic, experimental synth, or pop. Just focus on one genre and do it good. Some songs sound like U2 was in their studio, others like Taylor Swift was with the producer on the phone as he was arranging the instruments, and others that do sound like Editors just doing their thing.

I like Interpol a lot, got all their lps.I attended a festival in Berlin last year, and i saw later on setlist.fm that they played a new song. During the concert i didn't notice...but i will buy the new one if it touches me. Elpintor was better than Interpol... Now back to Editors...

The album is brilliant! A bit distorted in places when trying to play loud (I don’t have cheap speakers) & tried on different platforms too.
It’s got something for everybody, I love it!

It's more like a great collection of songs than an album with cohesion. If I look at it that way, I love it. Listened to the actual tracklist only once - in the right row, I mean. EDIT: Weird, the master from Qobuz (the digital release) is quieter than the CD leak.

This album is making me realise I was way too harsh on TWOYL. It sounds like a downright flawless piece of art compared to this. Your version was better! I'm considering doing my own version of Violence.
