Love the acoustic version - the original mix is somehow too dense to my ears, maybe it'll work best in the context of the album.
The acoustic version also clarifies the lyrics, you can hear all the lines clearly.

I really hope these "too electronic" versions of their songs, turn up later on a single release or something as Blanck Mass Redesigns (like he did for Placebo's LWYMI cover).

I don´t know if Barricades wouldn´t fit, but it is an additional Song, so the flow is different to the order of the songs chosen by the band. Compared to the "standard" issues. IAMX did that once, with different tracklisting of Cd and Vinyl, but it doesn´t happen often.

Almost a decade ago, I heard an interview where Guy Garvey of Elbow described albums as either "a novel" or "a collection of short stories". If it's a novel, eg. a concept album, where everything flows in a particular order, then yeah, an extra song in the middle is weird. If it's a bunch of short stories, it makes no difference. We'll have to wait until the song emerges, which probably won't be until release day.
That said, if it is a novel, then we've also heard Chapter 6 first, which is an odd place to start.
