Another sighting of 'the UK pretends Editors only released two albums so far' Anyway, #hype I don't understand this. The UK music press is so moronic at times (like it took them 37 years to give Depeche Mode some proper recognition and respect). It's like it's full of unsuccessful wannabe popstars/aspiring musicians who are just jealous they never got as far as the people they write about.

Good morning! Apparently it's Blue Monday, how very fitting Editors are back today.
Looks like the store is under construction at the moment, it redirects to TM Stores' home page. I don't know about you but I can smell an announcement and it smells great.

I think we’ll get the single on the radio tonight (obviously), a little chat with Tom about the album and possibly announce it (?) and then the video to Magazine will be uploaded to YouTube with details of the album in the description. Tomorrow I think will be UK tour dates. They must surely announce them this week if a single is premiering today.?

Another sighting of 'the UK pretends Editors only released two albums so far' Anyway, #hype Well they are were at their most popular and commercial relevance with the first two albums. Unlike in Belgium, 'In This Light' bombed pretty badly in the UK. It wasn't popular, I remember going to see them at several UK shows, people were talking about their disappointment with the album and it showed with lukewarm crowd responses to the songs (Papillon being the only exception). Editors went on to focus Belgium/Netherlands because they were popular there. According to wiki: "Following its release, the album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. It however had a very short chart life, only spending three weeks in the top 40 and five on the top 75, dropping from the top spot to No. 13 in its second week. This makes the album one of the shortest runners to reach number one, matching the five weeks by Little Angels "Jam" in 1993, an album which also dropped to No. 13 the week after. " There's also the supposed AC-DC effect, in which the performance of next album is to a large extent pre-determined by your audiences opinion of the current release. Negative views of In this Light harmed The Weight of your love, negative views of that album harmed In Dreams.... locking Editors into a downwards spiral in the UK.

I just think the music industry in this country is horrid! Just shit pop music that all sounds the same. There’s not a lot of passion for music in younger circles and tracks and they way people listen to music is so “throw away” I think all bands will struggle. I still stand by my statement of these “talent” (yeh right!) shows such as The X factor have killed the music industry and venues as people now just watch tv and YouTube to find new music instead of going to live gigs!
I think the new Editors record is going to be brilliant, I don’t envy Tom & Co going to these stations that don’t either play ANY Editors tracks or think they have only had two albums! And talking about their new record knowing it won’t get airtime on that station.
This country needs a shake up!

And talking about their new record knowing it won’t get airtime on that station. This country needs a shake up! This is very true Danny, The music industry is in such a dire state. It’s all based around your ed Sheeran’s and your Taylor swifts and collabs. Like you said, it’s all throwaway music that only stays ‘current’ for a short amount of time before something very similar comes along and people go ‘ooh have you heard this?’ Many people I know don’t even give Editors the time of day simply because of Tom’s voice and how baritone it once was. He’s pushed his voice so much over the last few years but that still doesn’t seem to sway people I know - they still just go by albums 1,2 and 3 where his voice was much deeper. It’s a shame that the uk radio stations don’t support uk bands, instead supporting the ‘teens’ that want their 5 seconds of fame or American artists. But at the same time Editors marketing strategy doesn’t help. They don’t promote nowhere near enough or do tv performances but this is probably because they don’t have the support of tv/radio in the uk. It’s a vicious circle. Word on instagram is album 6 is their best yet which may sway audiences if promoted enough, but this could just be a ploy to get people interested. I severely doubt we’re going to be disappointed though 😉

I agree with the two posts above. I had a look at the BRIT award nominees yesterday and it was... a little depressing. Don't know if it's that much better in Belgium though. We also have our favourites, but we don't declare them dead after two albums.
In other news, Studio Brussel are saying they're playing Magazine at 8:45pm, which is 7:45pm UK time so that's before the BBC Radio 2 premiere... it's the second time they say this, when I heard the presenter say it this morning I thought it was just a bit too early to get details right lol, but now it does look like stubru are getting the actual premiere:
Also a phone interview with Tom tomorrow morning.
