If you remember a few years ago myself, Quentin and cityscape created a boardie cover album of Violence. Since then AI technology has improved to the point where you can get stems for any song, which I find completely mindblowing. So I decided to revisit Violence and TWOYL and create a new mixes of them, using Tom's voice, Russell's bass and all the rest of it. The result is somewhere between a cover album and a remix album. TWOYL - editorsremixproject.bandcamp.com/album/the-weight-reimaginedViolence - editorsremixproject.bandcamp.com/album/violence-reimaginedBoth contain bonus tracks if you download the full thing. For TWOYL, the idea was to make it sound more like it was originally going to in 2012 using old live bootlegs as an inspiration. I also wanted to make it sound more in line with Tom's description: "a big dumb rock record inspired by Springsteen, REM and Arcade Fire" and give it more of a Nashville sound (it was recorded in Nashville after all). For Violence, the idea was to create something that sounded less electronic and more like a live band. I did this by using AI stems from the original album, alongside mixing in acoustic versions and lots of stuff from the Lemming Archive (thanks Lemming!). I then recorded new live drums for each track, to give it as natural a feel as possible. I hope you enjoy it. Violence Reimagined on YouTube TWOYL was blocked on YouTube

Nice work Richard! I've longed to hear a less busy version of Darkness at the Door

wait, you can get stems from any song using AI? Tell me more. How do you do that? What software?
I'll definitely give this a listen!

It's like an even mash of the album version and the Chris version. Halfway between the two. Ditto The Sting.

Wow, TWOYL rework is amazing. No idea how you did it, but it's great!
I really like the original album. In fact, I love a lot of it. But I can't help but feel a bit of lost potential with some songs. You've fixed that for me.
I prefer your uncluttered arrangement of Honesty, and you've fulfilled the difficult task of making Comrade Spill My Blood (one of my least favourite Editors songs) sound pretty damn good. Your versions of Two Hearted Spider and The Sting are a glimpse into what could have been, but the highlight for me is Nothing. I've been waiting for a version like this for the last 10 years! I was beaming when I first listened to it.

Thank you so much. Comrade was probably the biggest surprise of the process for me. Like you, I thought it was Editors worst song ever and barely worth the time of day. I was amazed all I had to do was re-record some of the instruments and it turned into something that could've been an album highlight for me. Tom does a great job of obscuring his songwriting sometimes.

Black Gold is definitely improved! It’s has one of my fave vocals from Tom, but the rest of the song isn’t really anything apart from the bass is decent(seems like a lot of synths that don’t really add much so make it feel like it’s not a proper song in the background of the vocals at times). Also never been a fan of the drum machines on it, so nice to hear some real drums! I’d been meaning to add some myself but never got round to it

Thanks Richard. You have bought me some joy with your take on TWOYL. Similar to above comments I feel its a glimpse to what may have been for 2HS and even more Nothing. The album arrangement remains one of the more bizarre band decisions I have seen. You often read about bands struggling internally to progress that next album, the pressure, the doubts and so on, but they know they have that song, one song, that will transcend it all, which then brings the confidence to build off. I think Nothing could have been that song for Editors. Of course you never know the internal dynamics but am sure it was a time with much uncertainty and rebuilding. I can accept they weren't happy with the initial recording (to mirror the live delivery). Maybe they didn't have more time to work it (My understanding is it was likely one of the latter tracks worked on for the album). Maybe they do think the stripped back with strings brings the most value to the track. Whatever the case I think it was a big opportunity missed for the song and the band.
