I think being announced early in the week we’ll get drip fed bits everyday with a single coming Friday and video Monday? Or maybe I’m just being hopeful …

I'm just wondering what Gary will say when they finally stop calling Black Gold their new best of album on the website I feel your faith in those that run the website is over zealous
Not even the news has been updated since 27/4/20
Thats 2 weeks shy of 2yrs of nothing.
BG is still their new album.
Now think about this... they said in the tweet the other day to 'sign up' for the latest news..... imagine going to the website and seeing it in its current state of neglect.
Not even a little dust down for any new traffic that might have gone there in the last 24hrs.
Their PR game is so poor, they just need to come stright out and say single now. album a few days later as they cant do hype if they were given a free copy of the best selling book How To Hype Something For Dummies and its companion title Good Public Relations 101

Totally agree - I really don’t know why their PR is so poor. It seems like they act as the loyal fans will hang around for any bit of news, regardless of how much radio silence there is in between. Obviously we will because we are loyal fans but I feel like they take it for granted. I’ll be very interested to hear why it was almost a year ago when they did an Instagram post saying ‘finishing E7’ and now we’re only (hopefully?) just getting a single. Do we think they went back to the drawing board and were’t happy with what they were recorded? Like you said Gary, they just need to give us a post either tonight or tomorrow saying new single out Friday, album out in a few weeks before they start touring again. It must be so frustrating for the band when it all seems to stall but maybe they need to look at getting new PR haha.

I agree their social media marketing and the website could be, to put it mildly, a lot better. I suppose it's a priorities issue, but I seriously think they're missing out on a lot of traffic (meaning, meaning attention, meaning potential new fans) this way, which is a shame. Obviously us hardcore fans will always stick around regardless of if they update their social media or website regularly or not, but I bet the general public or casual fans are like "Editors? Yeah they were a good band. Wonder what they're up to" and if, when you look them up, all you see is a seemingly neglected website advertising a 2.5 year old best of album and some festival announcements (some, not all of them)... yeah that doesn't look great. I really don't know why they never got rid of that Black Gold landing page and just put something general, non-album-campaign related there especially since there's been such a long period of silence because of the pandemic. And why not post a little update in the news section when they played that gig in Portugal last month, or pictures of the rehearsals for that show (which the band themselves actually did do). Remember when they randomly put footage from a gig from 2008 on YouTube? I was so excited, that could have been a regular thing, but no. Or The Black Gold Archives! That was such a good idea, but then it just... died. They do come up with really cool things related to album campaigns, like the Black Gold Archives and the Violence competition, but in between albums or during tours it all kind of dies down, which makes it look like a priorities thing to me. It's frustrating to watch tbh (especially for this band's poor poor fans who work in marketing and keep websites they care a lot less about up to date for a living *cough* lol). But yeah, we don't know what's going on behind the scens. And all of that has nothing to do with the band's actual time schedule though, tbh I think the gap between the instagram posts about recording or finishing E7 and now is so big because of the pandemic and the uncertainty around international touring. I think they waited until they were like 90% sure they could plan promo and a tour to go with the album. And I kinda like the vague teasing, they don't need to give us the actual date, generating some hype is good! Hopefully we'll get some more teasers over the next few days, as in a little video snippet or audio. We have pretty much no idea what it's going to sound like, it's all so mysterious this time! Or is that just because I can barely remember the previous time we were here - back in, good lord, January 2018. Over 4 years ago. Ok this turned out longer than I intended it to, I'm in covid jail (quarantine) and have too much time on my hands. Anyway tl;dr the management can always get in touch if they need someone to give the website some TLC and I'm excited for the single!!!

Some good nail on the head replies.
It’s a bit boring all the teasing now, yeh it was fun the first few times but now it’s all a bit yawn.
Don’t know what to expect and I can’t seem to get excited - probably because of the teasing and lack of information.
See you at the front on the tour 😂

The social media post about following their Best Of playlist with upcoming music being added there surely means we can expect a single tomorrow as new music is uploaded to Spotify every Friday? Seems strange to add it to the Best Of playlist and not it’s own standalone thing. It’s been said already but this is the most mysterious way to promote an album the boys have ever done - none of us literally have no idea what to expect - we’ve been teased nothing but a few photos - it’s exciting but at the same time I hope I continue to like the direction they’re going in - unless they surprise us all and release something totally different!
