Me neither, apart from Heart Attack tbh. That said I'm not even remotely upset about it. The band were very clear from the get-go exactly what sort of album that is going to be. There's no bait-and-switch going on here. It features Blanck Mass as a full time member and was written to be performed at a dance festival. They know exactly what they want to do and they're doing it. It doesn't sound up my alley at all but the album wasn't made for me, so I can't be upset about that. The people who are in Editors current target demographic are loving it and that's all that matters. As for me? I know Editors like to do something completely different with every album, so even though EBM won't be my favourite record LP8 very well could be. Will you make a new version of EBM?😉 The answer is now yes Wasn't planning on it but I had a mad idea and I'm going for it. Very proud of how it's sounding thus far

WHEN YOUR HATE DON'T CUT IT THROUGH THE MESS YOU STARTED I CONFESS I FIND IT PICTURESQUE ARE YOU LIVID? WHEN MY LOVE BOILS OVER WHEN MY SHAME GROWS COLDER IT'S A MESS PICTURESQUE IT'S A MESS PICTURESQUE this fucking song.............what a banger Yes! The way this chorus is delivered in a sort of militant, staccato rhythm, I could almost imagine this song being on The Back Room if it was arranged differently. Some people moan that the band have changed too much since those early albums, but I can still hear the key ingredients all over EBM. Tom's delivery of Picturesque's chorus isn't a million miles away from Fingers in the Factories. Agreed! Editors pushed the boundaries very much onto new Territory but at the same time they brought back feelings from their early days. EBM is so close to The Back Room and In This Light... I think. The guitar walls are a big nod to Chris' work back then. And the bass and drums create an unparalleled urgency, don't you think?

Hideo Kojima, the (in?)famous game creator posted this on his Instagram account - he has 1.4M followers. http://instagr.am/p/Ci9Ix5qrOVq Might be unexpected but awesome PR for the project. He is a big fan! Attachments:

I don't hear Chris in the guitar walls, but it's the urgency and the energy, it's so similar. Fingers is a good comparison. Now I'm imagining an EBMified Fingers In The Factories.

6 days on and the album has finally dropped through my door. Will just say this, I do not get the people who are saying this and that about the sound, direction etc etc... to my humble ears, it screams THIS IS AN EDITORS RECORD from start to finish. Thats all I am going to say.

I like the imagery of a car that's derelict or burnt out in the middle of nowhere. A car (God or maybe faith here) being something that transports you somewhere, but is now abandoned or useless. I also like the little vehicular parallel with "You saved my soul with a drive" in Educate. (Though I also respect Tom's commitment to just vibing it lyrics-wise, so it could mean anything. )

No. 10 in for first week in UK Album Charts, not great, not terrible. 4th in physical sales though. I wonder what their algorithm they use is, because I’m still confused at how a greatest hits album released over 20 years ago by ABBA is above them 🤔 Like sure use streaming, but say I’ve bought the album on vinyl then it only counts once, whereas every time I stream it, it counts in some way towards the figures? Surely there should be a limit on how many times you streaming an album counts towards the charts to avoid things like that 🤷🏻♀️
